Our Works
Dr. Mimi Song
Dr. Song launched the Home Coming project, which honors the forgotten U.S. Marines and other U.S. military service members of the Korean War (1950–1953). Their noble sacrifice and dedication made possible the successful evacuation of approximately 200,000 refugees and military personnel during the Hungnam withdrawal, an event that became known as the “Christmas miracle of 1950.” This miracle included the safe birth of five babies aboard fleeing vessels, notably the SS Meredith Victory and SS Lane Victory. The SS Lane Victory, a historic ship that participated in these heroic evacuations, remains berthed in San Pedro, California, awaiting restoration nearly 80 years after her time of service.
Through the Home Coming project, Ms. Song seeks to unite Americans in honoring the soldiers who paid the ultimate price for the freedom and sovereignty we, the American people and particularly Korean Americans, enjoy today.
